This blog is written by the volunteers that are, or have been, participating in the volunteers’ working holiday in France at La Giraudière in Brossac, South West France.
“WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE THE LA GIRAUDIERE PROJECT”
“The whole idea of the La Giraudière project is for people of all backgrounds, all ages, all nationalities to have the chance to live together, learn about each others’ lifestyles, exchange their knowledge, experiences and skills whilst living and working together in France and at the same time helping, improving and adding to the Project for those to come in the future.”
The above comment was written back in 2010 when the blog first started. Since then we have added more programs. Schools trips from the UK have used La Giraudière since 2008 when our first school group farrived rom Nottingham. 2011saw our first school group from the USA at La Giraudière, and this trip was organised by two volunteers from the 2010 group. During 2012 volunteers improved the website for the school groups and you can see the work by visiting School Trips to France.
2012 also saw the development of a program called Internships in France The internship will be that of an assistant administrator to the volunteers’ project and the successful applicants would each during their time be working alongside Paul, the present administrator and La Giraudière visionary. For the last five years Paul has put together one of the most successful volunteers’ projects in France, if not Europe, which attracts volunteers from around the globe.
He now wants to pass on or share the skills and the knowledge he has acquired.
Last but by no means least a program for our French speaking volunteers called “Séjour linguistique pour apprendre l’anglaise dans le Sud Ouest de la France“ whereby native French speakers can come along and learn and or improve their English by working along side our English speaking volunteers and, of course, with the assistance of our English teachers.
So a lot of ground work has been done and now La Giraudiere is moving forward from its successful volunteers’ program – which by the way will never end. In fact it simply goes from strength to strength.
