A game of boules in Brossac

The volunteers and the locals play boules

john-petanqueYesterday evening, La Giraudière’s volunteers had a group outing into Brossac for a traditional French game of boules with the local people.

Our new Scottish volunteer, John, was particularly skilled at this sport and he made a big contribution to his winning team.

John is returning to La Giraudière this year after a four week visit last summer…I suspect his talent for boules can be explained in part by his previous experience!

John is pictured on the left during the game.

boulesOver the course of the evening, we met two brothers, Tom and Matéo, who were in Brossac to visit their grandma. They are pictured with John and Paul on the right.

The boys taught our volunteers the best technique for playing pétanque, as well as helping us with our French. Thank you Tom and Matéo!
