weekend excursions are also a learning weekend not just of the French
Language but also a little of their history . What involvement
did the frigate Hermione have in the American Independence.

A typical week
end at Summer Camp
Week end is excursion time Friday after
breakfast the coach arrives to
take you on yet another adventure in France. The first of your
excursions would have been arranged by the camp The possibilities are
endless some of the favorites are listed on the excursion page but just
to run you through the routine we will explain the week end at the
coast.. The coach will take us to our first destination which is
Rochefort stopping on route |
| for coffee.
At Rochefort we will visit the
Sea Galleon they are constructing which is
an exact replica of the frigate Hermione . Lunch will be on route
to La Rochelle as at La Rochelle we
will change transport to the ferry which will take us to Fort Bouyard a
man made island fortress of the coast of France. This evening we will
be staying at an hotel on the isle de Aix and evening meal will be
served at the hotel. Saturday after breakfast we are
off to The Dune de
pyla situated |

on
the coast just south of Archachon. Here you
will mount
the largest sand dune in Europe and marvel
at natures work. After a swim at the bay de Archachon
it back to the hotel for evening meal. Sunday after break
fast we will tour the Archachon town prior to making our way back to
Summer Camp stopping at one of the famous French Routiers for Lunch. |
