{"id":4377,"date":"2015-03-04T10:29:43","date_gmt":"2015-03-04T09:29:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/?p=4377"},"modified":"2015-03-04T10:29:43","modified_gmt":"2015-03-04T09:29:43","slug":"canadian-in-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/canadian-in-france\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian in France Volunteers at La Giraudi\u00e8re"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Canadian in\u00a0France<\/h1>\n<p>Our most recent volunteer is Davida who is from the city of Toronto in the province of Ontario, Canada and she\u00a0will be spending five weeks at La Giraudi\u00e8re to do volunteer work and to experience the French way of life in the countryside. \u00a0This is Davida&#8217;s second trip to France. \u00a0She has previously spent about a year in France during which time she worked as an English Teacher Assistant in the beautiful city of Bordeaux. \u00a0Five years later, she had an itch to go back and have another great experience.<\/p>\n<p>In September, Davida started researching different work or volunteer opportunities in France. \u00a0She came across La Giraudi\u00e8re online and found the project and experience to be interesting and very unique. \u00a0The flexibility of start dates, the affordable cost and the reviews of previous visitors were also very appealing. \u00a0After receiving more information from Paul, the coordinator, she decided to apply for the program.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4393\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Davida-2-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4393\" class=\"wp-image-4393 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Davida-2-resized-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Canadian in France\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Davida-2-resized-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Davida-2-resized-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.lagiraudiere.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Davida-2-resized.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4393\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The old house at La Giraudi\u00e8re<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This new volunteer departed on an Air France flight from Toronto on February 26, 2015 at 6:30 pm and touched down at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris after which she took a connecting flight to Bordeaux. \u00a0Although she arrived safely, her luggage did not. \u00a0Unfortunately, a luggage sorter broke down at Charles de Gaulle airport affecting the luggage of\u00a0all flights between 5am and 1pm for terminal E and F and which resulted in many unhappy flyers. \u00a0Thank God for carry-on luggage that is well stocked. \u00a0Davida was only missing a few essential items which she was able to purchase upon her arrival.<\/p>\n<h2>Canadian in France Volunteers at La Giraudi\u00e8re<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the mishap, Davida is happy to be in France again. \u00a0The weather is certainly pleasant enough, leaving behind the -11\u00b0C of Toronto to meet a mild 11\u00b0C. \u00a0Soon after Paul welcomed her at the station and brought her to La Giraudi\u00e8re, they took a long walk around the village of Brossac where Davida was able to take in the lovely charm of the French countryside.<\/p>\n<p>This Canadian in France\u00a0is looking forward to helping Paul prepare to host a school group who will be visiting La Giraudi\u00e8re in April. \u00a0Stay tuned for more\u00a0posts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian in\u00a0France Our most recent volunteer is Davida who is from the city of Toronto in the province of Ontario, Canada and she\u00a0will be spending five weeks at La Giraudi\u00e8re to do volunteer work and to experience the French way &hellip;
