Student Volunteers Program attracts Brother & Sister

Brother & Sister from UK Volunteer in France

Around two weeks ago, at la Giraudière, we welcomed into our team of student volunteers our first brother and sister, Jamie and Khushi, here in France. They were coming from the Southampton area, in the United Kingdom and they went back home this morning.   

Jamie, 22 years old, has just graduated at the Coventry university. He helped out with his graphical design skills and, specifically, he created a logo for the YERRF project. He also designed many different formats of the logo so that it could be used for all the social media of the project. Jamie took French lessons here.

Khushi, 19 years old, is still studying at the University of Cambridge, where she had just finished her 1st year. She helped the YERRF project by translating the pages of our website from English to French and she took further lessons to improve her French also.

Good luck Kelly! Welcome Mara!

Kelly, 23, from Granada, Spain, left on Saturday to go back to her country and pursue her education. She has been here for two months and she worked on the YERRF project, especially, on the social networks and in digital marketing.

Unfortunately, three volunteers have left La Giraudière this weekend but we are very happy to welcome a new entry:

“Ola! My name is Mara, I’m 24 and I am from Lisbon, Portugal, where I studied Advertising and Marketing for 4 years. I just arrived at La Giraudière’s house and program. This is my first time in France and my first international volunteering experience. I expect that La Giraudière will became really quickly not only my house but also my home in this adventure. Here, I want to learn French, improve my knowledge of digital marketing and learn strategies about entrepreneurship.  I also hope I will make friends and give the best contribution to a project that is bigger than me”.

Mara is at La Giraudière, as an EVS volunteer, to help us with the YERRF project. She will stay here until the beginning of November.

Bonne chance Kelly! Bienvenue Mara!

Kelly, 23 ans, de Grenade, en Espagne, est partie samedi pour retourner dans son pays et poursuivre ses études. Elle a été ici depuis deux mois et elle a travaillé sur le projet YERRF, en particulier sur les réseaux sociaux et le marketing numérique.kelly_volunteer_spain

Malheureusement, trois volontaires sont partis de La Giraudière ce fin de semaine mais nous sommes très heureux d’accueillir une nouvelle entrée:

“Ola! Je m’appelle Mara, j’ai 24 ans et je suis de Lisbonne, Portugal, où j’ai étudié la publicité et le marketing depuis 4 ans. Je viens d’arriver chez La Giraudière et au son programme. C’est ma première fois en France et ma première expérience internationale de bénévolat. Je espère que La Giraudière deviendra très vite non seulement un hébergement pour moi, mais aussi ma maison dans cette aventure. Ici, je veux apprendre le français, améliorer ma connaissance du marketing numérique et apprendre des stratégies sur l’entrepreneuriat.  J’espère, aussi, que je vais faire des amis et apporter ma meilleure contribution à un projet qui est plus grand que moi ”

Raline, une bénévole d’Afrique du Sud

Raline, une volontaire d’Afrique du Sud, a séjourné à La Giraudière pendant deux semaines, qui étaient la dernière partie de son voyage de trois mois à l’étranger. Elle a dit qu’elle a gardé le meilleur pour la fin.

Raline, pendant son séjour, a effectué la gestion du ménage. Elle a également pris de nombreuses photographies merveilleuses pour documenter son séjour et elle nous a aidé avec les médias.

C’était la première fois que Raline avait effectué un voyage de trois mois à l’étranger toute seule, mais elle a précisé que ce n’est que le début. Peut-être que nous la reverrons à La Giraudière un jour!

Raline a volunteer from South Africa

South African choose La Giraudiere for Volunteering Holiday

This is a late thankyou to Raline a volunteer from South Africa who volunteered for 2 weeks at La Giraudiere in 2017. La Giraudiere was the final part of her 3 months abroad and in her own words she said she had saved the best for last.

Raline druring her stay looked after the household carrying out various household management she also took and supplied our media with many photographs as Raline simply documented her stay with photographs.

This was the first time Raline had taken a 3 month trip abroad on her own and she said it is just the start so maybe we see Raline back at La Giraudiere one day.
