Bonjour et bienvenue à notre premier post de blog en français! (To read in English, click here: Meet our new English volunteer).

Je m’appelle Libby et je suis une nouvelle bénévole à La Giraudière cette semaine. J’étudie l’économie et la gestion à l’Université d’Oxford en Angleterre mais je m’intéresse beaucoup à la langue et la culture française aussi, et c’est pour cette raison que j’ai choisi de visiter La Giraudière.

Pendant mon séjour, je vais travailler principalement sur les médias sociaux de La Giraudière et je vais essayer d’améliorer mon français en écrivant mes blogs et mes posts en français aussi bien qu’en anglais. En plus, j’espère avoir la chance de pratiquer mon français parlé avec les gens du quartier quand nous attendons les fêtes et les événements locaux.

An English volunteer arrives at La Giraudière

Salut! Welcome to the English translation of my first French blog post. (To read the original French version, click here: Rencontrez notre nouvelle bénévole anglaise).

My name is Libby and I am a new volunteer at La Giraudière this week. I study Economics and Management at the University of Oxford in England but I am also really interested in French language and culture, and it is for this reason that I chose to visit La Giraudière.

During my stay, I will mainly be working on La Giraudière’s social media and I will try to improve my French by writing my blogs and my posts in French as well as English. I also hope to have the opportunity to practise my spoken French with the local people when we go to local parties and events.

Ted, our Austrailian volunteer finishes his stay at LG

Bonjour à tous! Asha here again. Today Ted, a volunteer here at La Giraudière who you may remember from a previous blog, left. Ted has been here for 4 weeks. Like many of us he wanted to go home, he felt as if he wasn’t going to last the duration of his stay, but after the first day or so that feeling left, like it has left me and many of our other volunteers. Ted enjoyed his time here at work with all the other volunteers.

While Ted was volunteering with us here his main project was tidying the garden which he worked at tirelessly for 4 weeks, creating a visable difference by trimming, chainsawing and tidying. Now Ted is in Cornwall relaxing after 4 weeks of hard work. We are most definitely hoping to see him again.

A Day Out at La Giraudiere

Aubeterre

Last week our project coordinator, Paul, took us on a trip to Aubeterre, which is known as a plus belle village. It is full of beautiful quaint architecture and spiraling pathways.

One of the highlights of this trip were the churches in the village which were just phenomenal. I have inserted some photos below. The whole view of this village was astonishing.

After touring around the village and stopping to view the various churches and indulge in the various cafés we made our way down to a petite plage, where we were able to order yet another ice cream and cool down with a swim in the water. There were also activities like kayaking available to us. The water was full of locals and holidaymakers enjoying the sun. It was a great reward after a morning of hard work.

Young Entrepeneurs rejuvenate rural france

Young Entrepeneurs rejuvenate rural france is the EVS approved project for 2017. It starts from the 1st of July and goes on until the  14th December 2017 and you can apply for a period 3 to 5 months. Location Brossac South West France.

We are looking for volunteers from Portugual, Spain and Italy. There are still places so apply now. For more info email evs@lagiraudiere.com or visit Erasmus in France
