Lynne, an Australian now living on the States who has been avoiding a mixture of accents over the past five years, arrived at La Giraudiere two weeks ago with another to go. She has done a great job on de-weeding the garden and organising photos on the computer. Next week, she will be moving onto doing some restoration work for the ground floor of Gîte 4. She is now trying her best to avoid the British accent as well as the American one!
Another LG volunteer here at the moment is Fiona from Nottingham, who has also been with is for the past three weeks and will be leaving this coming Tuesday. Fiona has been doing some great work on a new programme that will be put into place next year which is for French children to come and learn English with natives and also help LG volunteers with their tasks. With her amazing French skills, she has been writing up the programme documents and translating the application form into French. Seeing as Fiona is going to be a French teacher when she goes back home, she has been getting some practice by helping French teacher Lyn a bit with her French lessons and doing a great job too!
Emily is not the only LG returner at the moment, we now have Mark back too! He arrived Monday and will be staying for another two weeks before he heads back to England. So far, he has been doing the plastering for the wall of the disabled toilet and him and Paul will be carrying on with this job next week too.
Today is the day that we had to say goodbye to Corinna who has been with us for the past three weeks. She has left to do a bit of travelling around sunny South of France before returning back to not so sunny Glasgow. Her work at LG has included cutting the hedges which now look great, and some work to the website too. She has made us some lovely meals included Chili con carne which went down a treat at the barbecue yesterday. She will be missed and we hope she enjoys her trips and has a safe journey home!
Three times lucky and Emily tries her luck again at La Giraudiere as she returns for her third visit. Emily will be looking after the blog and keeping you informed of what has passed and what is happening.
