Volunteering In France | Interning in France

As part of the program for 2012 La Giraudiere is going to put together some Internship programs to help those students looking for credits and grants for their input and stay at La Giraudiere. Many have been successful in obtaining both from their University but some, because of applying to late in the day or not checking first, have failed to obtain either.

Last year among the 2011 group we had Marlou from Holland who was studying management of a facility and she was successful in obtaining the credit from her university and also a grant from the “Leonardo da Vinci Program”

We are looking for volunteers who have either applied, successfully or failed, for an internship or, have monitored an internship program, or maybe you was the one that decided if the applicant received a credit, or maybe you wrote the cheque for the grant. So if you would have knowledge of the procedure of applying for an internship and a credit plus how to obtain a grant for your internship then come along to La Giraudiere and help put our Internship program in place.

The great cold of 2012 seems to be coming to an end and with it comes more problems for La Giraudiere. With only 35 days until the 2012 program kicks off La Giraudiere as been hit by Le grand froid de l’année 2012 or rather the grand defrosting.

Temperatures have now been fore-casted to reach 16 degrees celsius today, amazing when you think we were facing – 18 degrees only 10 days ago. With this burst pipes, leaks and broken taps and burst pressure reducers have been the result.

Apartment two has a leak above the shower room so the ceiling will have to be removed and the leak repaired.

The supply pipe from the water meter to the apartment is burst and lies some 60 cm under the ground.

The washing machine room has several leaks from the pressure reducer, the washing machine tap and also a burst pipe inside the washing machine.

The old house has leaks from the exterior taps and the reducer inside the house.

Apartment 4 the newly completed in 2011 has leaks from the shower mixer, the stop cock and the supply pipe from down below.

This morning woke to find 12 cms of snow had fallen so just had to go for a walk and here are some images enjoy
