All quiet at La Giraudiere

Hi all sorry been very quiet for the last 2 weeks but have been busy sorting out Sidney who has has a few problems and been very busy carrying out maintenance on the web sites and pages.

Firstly thanks to every and all the volunteers that made up the 2011 group there has been some superb work puttogether and some great times had.

Sidney is probably worn out with all the different visitors that have been and gone he been suffering from some kind of skin rash or infection but I am sure he will be fine soon.

All the work on the websites has been enormous and it is taking me ages to dot the eye’s and cross the tee’s but soon very soon hope to have some great search engine results for those intrested.

One of the things I have been working on is connecting the blog to the facebook account and this post is about to test if it works. Sorry no photos at present but they will be along soon.

Keep checking in and all keep in touch.

Paul and of course Sidersssssssssss

A Dune Day and a Working Man’s Dinner

Woke early and went to the Dune at Pilat (or Pyla).

It was so much fun, but quite a workout walking all the way up and down.  We went all the way down to the coast and ‘had a paddle’ as Paul would say, in the Atlantic.  The dune is a very incredible sight and all of us here would recommend it!

Afterwards, we went to Arcachon for some lunch and some shopping.  We found a public lift in a park that gave us a great view of the city.

To get back to the car, we walked along the beach, but the only one who actually went swimming was Sydney.

The traffic on the highway was terrible so we took a detour through Bordeaux at night!  With everything lit up it was a beautiful sight.

Our last stop of the day was dinner at Trucker’s.  It is a roadside stop where all the truck drivers stop and rest for the night.  It was definitely a local and one-of-a-kind experience.

The Last Full Workday.

Brenda continued her week as mum.

Elizabeth had little jobs to keep her busy all day.  She cleaned up the steps, pulled some weeds and killed the moss.

Gabrielle looked at the architecture and ground plans for La Giraudiere.  What is she planning for next year?

Paul started the clean up and also mowed the lawn.

Katie caught up on the emails and internet business.

Gabrielle had a recipe for stew for dinner.  We all helped out and had a quiet night in.  It was the last full workday here for the Volunteers at LG.

Our Last Trip to the Market

Our day started with the usual Monday morning market in Chalais.  It was sad because it’s everybody’s last trip to the market today. We also stopped by Denise’s friend, who sells cheese!

We got a large slice of Beaufort and a baguette and ate our delicious snack in the courtyard of the Chateau.

The next order of business was Petanque of course!  Elizabeth and Katie lost to Paul and Jean-Michele.  But later Alan was there to help coach.

We picked up Gabrielle from the train station and heard all about her little side trip.  She went to Beynac, a medieval village!  It looks beautiful.

We at dinner at O P’tit En K again and it was just as good the second time, if not better!  For dessert we ate at a Spanish themed tapas restaurant.
