WHAT
IS LA GIRAUDIERE AND WHAT IS HAPPENING THERE?
La Giraudiere a typical stone built charentaise masters house
and was owned by the
family Giraud. The family moved away some years ago and the property
fell into disrepair. In 1997 Myself, two of my brothers and a friend
formed a French property company and decided to purchase and restore La
Giraudiere with the idea of putting together a small tourist hamlet.
The path with the French authorities as been long but at last we have
everything in place for the go ahead.
Upon completion of the first stage, La Giraudiere will accommodate 40+
persons and will have a bar, restaurant and leisure facilities.
The hamlet will be used to accommodate school trips initially
from the UK and USA. Presently we have 3 apartments complete which
would be the
accommodation for the group.
WHO
CAN APPLY?
Anyone over the age of 18 years who can prove that they can
help
make La Giraudiere come to life. Practical, clerical, and whatever
trade or skill you have if you think you could contribute towards this
scheme then come and see us. I am not worried about Age. Students come
and bring some new life into
La Giraudiere Over 50 come and contribute your experience to La
Giraudiere

TO
APPLY?
It could

WHAT
IF I ONLY WANT TO WORK TWO DAYS A WEEK?
It is
simple and the
whole scheme is very flexible. To stay in the south west France region
with accommodation and full board would normally start at about 60
euros per day. So ok La Giraudiere estate is not finished but the
accommodation is finished and very comfortable and three meals a day
will be served. So if you would prefer to work 2 days and have 5 off
then you pay the additional 60 euros per day so your week would cost
240 euros
and you would have the 5 days off. Great work the week-end and have the
week off 5 days to explore France and this fabulous region.
THIS

here in south west France and have been for the last six years
struggling every step of the way to put this project in place.
The
battle with the French Authorities and the administration as been long
and exhausting both on myself and the finances of the project.
Marketing as started, using our website and the
help
of the 2008 group we have decided to make La Giraudiere A place where school
trips can be accommodated, a
place of learning for school children of
primary school age. a place
where they can learn about France and the French way of life

you give us 3½ days or 24 hours of your time each week plus

additional 3 days full bed and board and the freedom to discover this
region and be part of something that is happening now.

and it is not expensive and you would be part of something that is
going to be here for a long time. Come in July and stay at La
Giraudiere then tour France and then maybe come back in September very
flexible.

the past 5 years we have been marketing or testing the water to see
what people are
looking for in south west France and of course what south west France
has to offer visitors. During this period we have put different ideas
to
the test Golf Tours and Holidays and Summer camps just for examples.
But it was schools that picked up on our website and made use of La

But as I said
earlier it has been schools that have used La
Giraudiere. To date we have accommodated 5 school trips all from the UK
and
through our connections here in France they have established exchanged
school trips with their French counterparts.

accept
schools in 2010. Initially we will introduce the
trips to
primary schools in the UK and then further develop for the USA.

 HOW
MANY PEOPLE CAN APPLY?
Presently I have 4 apartments which amounts to 10 bedrooms so any
number
from 1 to 8 more if you are willing to share a bedroom can be
accommodated at any one time.
There are 4 showers and wash rooms one in each of the apartments and
there are 4 kitchens. The whole complex is situated in a two and half
acre park so plenty of space to chill out but also plenty of gardening
to be done..
WHERE
IS LA GIRAUDIERE?
1 km from
the village
Brossac and Brossac is within the Charente department which is in South
West France. The nearest Route National is 18km away and is
the
RN10 the nearest town is 10 km and that is Chalais where there is also
a train station. The nearest TGV station is Angouleme which is the
capital of South Charente. The nearest airports are Bordeaux,
Angouleme,
Bergerac, La Rochelle and Royan.
