Easter arrives and we have a month to prepare La Giraudiere for the volunteers and interns who have signed up for the Spring program.
For both the spring and the summer programs we have 17 volunteers and 2 interns wo have been selected from over 2000 applicants from around the world.
For 2023 we have a truley international group with the following countries being represented at La Giraudiere. Bangladesh, Finland, Scotland, Denmark, New Zealand, United States America, Australia, England, Norway and France.
The ages are just as different from the nationalities with youngest being 18 and out most senior being 80. So from students to retired professional will be volunteering at La Giraudiere this year.

Airports Airlines Flights – South West France – An informative blog post about the Airports in the South West of France, The airlines operating from those airports and the flights and destinations available.
We are putting in place Web pages upon the main website at lagiraudiere.com website which will help you find flights flying into the region, Airline companies that operate in South West France and the Airports situated in the region of South Western France.
These pages will help not only the volunteers and interns arriving at La Giraudiere, but also the general public who may also be visiting the region for the first time and unaware of the number of airports in this region.

Bordeaux Airport is the nearest airport to La Giraudiere and a large percentage of the volunteers and interns arrive via Bordeaux Airport.

Once at the airport you have to get to the Gare Saint Jean station, or la gare, to do this you have a choice of either the regular bus service or the shuttle service.
Direct shuttle Bordeaux Airport – Bordeaux Train station
The 30’Direct shuttle offers a direct 30-minute service between Bordeaux Mérignac Airport and La Gare Saint-Jean train station, to provide passengers with an easy link between two of the region’s key transport hubs. Available all day.
The 30’Direct shuttle goes from Hall B of Bordeaux Mérignac Airport to Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station, and it helps travellers transfer easily from plane to train and vice versa. These coaches operate every day of the year, they have air-conditioning and free on-board WiFi and they are accessible to passengers with reduced mobility. Passengers are guaranteed a seat.
Regular Bus Service Airport Bordeaux to Bordeaux Station
The regular bus service – Access to Bordeaux Airport by bus is via Lianes 1, which serves the city centres of Bordeaux and Mérignac as well as the train station, and offers connections to the city’s tram lines. This could take an hour plus which, if you have time, is a good way to see part of Bordeaux.
La ligne 1 bus (Bordeaux Gare Saint Jean) as 40 stops from airport depart to station at Bordeaux Gare Saint-Jean. Soon the tram extention of line A will be finished and open.
If you live outside the European Union then in all probability you will need a visa in order to volunteer in France. To volunteer in France at La Giraudiere or any other organisation you may well need to apply for a visa depending upon your nationality and country of residence.
