First Volunteers at La Giraudière for the 2018 season

Welcome, again, to the 2018 volunteers season at La Giraudière! We thought it would be a nice touch for you to get to know a little bit more about the first volunteers here for this season.

One of our volunteers, Rhona working on the blog at her desk

Rhona – Aberdeen, Scotland

Rhona is a tourist guide for almost anywhere in Scotland for both French and English speaking groups. Her aim during her time at La Giraudière is to be integrated into an international community while also using it as an opportunity to practise her French. She has been helping out with numerous office tasks including dealing with the applications and learning how to blog.

One of our volunteers, Susan, working on the applications at her desk

Susan – London, England

Susan is a Teacher from London. She has been learning French since 2017 and one of the reasons she applied to La Giraudière was to help her progress with this journey. She also wants to learn the French culture and way of life and have lots of fun in the process! She has been helping out with lots of admin, housekeeping and gardening so far in her stay.

One of our volunteers, John, working in the garden

John – Glasgow, Scotland

John is a college student with a part-time job in landscaping  in Glasgow. He is one of two of our returning volunteers this year joining us for the THIRD time! He hopes to gain new skills, meet new people and loves coming back to keep seeing the wonderful progress that La Giraudière is making. John helps to maintain the garden, keep the machinery in good condition and is an all round handyman.

One of our volunteers, Angle, in the middle of decorating

Angel – Puerto Rico

Angel’s working life is in real estate but what he really enjoys is time with his family. As he has recently moved to Paris, he is hoping to learn as much French and French culture as possible during his stay as well as continuing to develop as a person and give everything he can to La Giraudière. He is assisting with anything he can whilst he is here including decorating, “yard” work and cleaning.
