GARDENING & LANDSCAPING ~ If you have green fingers, a little imagination and plenty of enthusiasm then there is plenty of scope for your talents here at LaGiraudiere.  There is over 2 acres of over grown woodlands, there is the lost garden north of La Giraudiere.

Clearence of the woods oposite or south of La Giraudiere as been started and many trees have been saved but there is still lots to do. For 2012 I would like to save one tree each week by clearing the brambles and ivy attacking the trees.
Once cleared the woods would make a nice place to either relax, picnic or workout. The woods actually overlook a valley so for sure they would make a delightful place to chill out.

the old well imageDuring the 2011 program we were lucky to have Gabrielle arrive as one of the group she is a Landscape architect who is at this moment preparing plans for the south and north. Need to clear the woods and save the trees like to help?

North of La Giraudiere was once a garden with a well at the end of a tree lined alley. Unfortunately most of the trees are infected and need cutting down and probably burning they have been infected by some kind of beetle. However there are some species of trees that have not been infected and I understand them to be the Oak, there is a cork Tree I am not sure of it's correct name but I have been told it was used to make the corks for the wine bottles, the are also several fig trees and many other varieties for which I know not their name.

La Giraudiere was actually built upon a source or a spring I have on many occasions met the spring whenever digging holes around the property. Now I am just thinking aloud here but maybe there is a way that we could tap into the spring so that it constantly fed water to the pound if it is found the pound could then have an overflow which siphoned off into the road side fosse this way the water would not become stagnant and maybe no mosquitoes to bit us alive. If anyone has any ideas about this project then please let me know what is needed.
