HISTORIANS Needed ~ Come research the history of La Giraudiere, The nearby Chateauxs, Angouleme our nearest city, Chalais and Barbezieux our nearest market towns.

Apparently the house was owned by the family Giraud and maybe 40 years prior the last two surviving daughters of Giraud moved away to Paris leaving the property to the Forest. Apparently there was a Paul Giraud who was a doctor in the French Army, I believe he has a prominent tomb at the local cemetery. Many local farmers tell me that there forefathers were once tenant farmers for the Giraud family. Locals have told me that La Giraudiere was where newly weds would request the Giraud family permission to use La Giraudiere for their wedding photos. In the church there are three chairs marked with a plate with the name La Giraudiere and apparently the family donated money to the village church and in return the church reserved three places for the family. Obviously the family Giraud were prominent members of the village and were a family of substance but what happened and where are they now? Fancy researching these leads and many more and writing about the history of La Giraudiere ?

What about the History of Angouleme? Is it built on an extinct volcano? was it named by the Romans?
Then there is Chalais with it's prominent castle, what battles were fought here if any?
Barbezieux Again a large market town with a Chateaux is Barbezieux famous for anything?
