NATURE LOVERS ~ Come research the fauna and the flora of the region, The farming and agriculture of the region and the wild life indigenous to the region.

With this one there is just too much and will take a life time to write, photograph or video, the wildlife the nature it is here in abundance. But maybe starting from La Giraudiere and working away we could make a start on say the birds. What are the different bird calls we hear during the day, which species of wood pecker chips away all day long over the lane. Night time arrives and it does not stop then there is the bats clicking away then followed by our dame blanch a white owl calling for it's partner. Oh yes it is a challenge we have only discussed the birds.
Then there is the insect life some of which I have never seen before arriving here in Charente. I have had to learn about the termite and the Capricorn which might eat La Giraudiere. But can someone tell us about the rest.

Charente is famous for it's grapes and sunflowers but they seem to be growing everything, Charente is like a garden of eden come the spring and the vegetation just grows maybe because of the number of sunshine hours in Charente added by the torrential lightning storms everything just seems to grow and so quickly especially our grass. The change in the climate is also I here taking an effect. So Agriculture could also be a long project.
La Giraudiere is 1km outside the village and has woods to the north and south and fields to the east and west  and as a result of it's position it is visited by much of the wildlife from around it. I have seen deer grazing on the Irish lilies in the old court yard, many badgers and squirrels and our resident Labrador has chased a wild bore, deer, fox and the odd cat across the adjacent field. Wildlife lovers you would be in your element writing about and photographing the wild life

Remember La Giraudiere will always be a working project and each year it will have it's program of works. In other words La Giraudiere will always be doing exactly what it is doing now. Each year the number we can accommodate will increase and each year something new will be added yes but it will always be offering open doors to people who want to learn, help, contribute or want to teach whether it be primary school children or the working group. So if you are thinking 3 weeks is simply not enough time to make an impression it is not true. The fact you are reading this means that you have a reserved place at La Giraudiere which means you have accommodation well that accommodation was put in place by those that have been before it was not done in three weeks your apartment in all probability took a year or more.  The same principle applies to any part of the program.
